It’s not exactly Gunsmoke, but let’s just say Marshall Dillon needs to keep the peace with the 124-year rivalry between Marinette and Menominee.
Diamonds and Gold and Frankly Green Bay present Let Me Be Frank Productions’ all-new comedy musical “Franksmoke”.
Since 1894, the Marinette Marines and the Menominee Maroons have fought on the gridiron in the nation’s 3rd longest interstate rivalry. And, do you remember when the legal drinking age in Wisconsin was 18? Everyone from the U.P. would sneak into Wisconsin to have some libations if they were under 21. One of those bars was Lolli’s Pub in Marinette; they booked the best bands around with Gerry Cain and Friends being regulars. Well, our bar host Kitty is holding the championship dart match between the Menominee team, sponsored by Lloyd Flanders, and the Marinette team, sponsored by Lauerman’s. The Menominee team (including Festus and Tom) will do anything to win the State Dart Tournament. They’ll even try to rig the outcome by sending in an underage spy!
While trying to get a bullseye, the Menominee folks prefer to listen to older country music. Across the bridge in Marinette, the progressive Wisconsinites are digging the newer county tunes while they play. It’s not only a Menominee and Marinette feud but also a Reba vs. Loretta Lynn feud. Will the Marinette team prevail with the nearsighted father and son team of Frank and Blake? Kasey, the bartender with child, has some advice for the teams. Will it help? It’s a battle of wits and skill — who will become the Dart Champions of the Twin Cities of da U.P.?
